Kingfisher VIP

The VIP package is based on Kingfisher XL package, but is still a special offer for groups who want that little extra. The extension in VIP package is:

- The group size is 1-6 persons and there will not be booked others this 9 days.

- The VIP group will have their own house in Reisa valley for the whole period.

- We serve only VIP meals, a very high level of quality.

- The group has two cars for disposal.

- The group will have two guides available 24 hours a day.

- The group does not camp in the wilderness, but at the house in Reisa valley.

The VIP package is only available from 1th of July to 31th of August, which is the salmon season.

The 1-3 day:

After the group is picked up from Tromsø or Sørkjosen airport we go right up to the house that will be your home the next couple of days. Well at place the guides will prepare a hot meal while you unpack your luggage and make yourself feel as home. After the meal the VIP group decide in which area they would like to fish the next three days. We are fishing for arctic char or brown trout from 1 lb to 10lbs in size. One of the guides will go up in advance to raise a temporary camp for food and relaxing. When the group feels ready to start the adventure we make our way up the mountain side to the camp with a car as long as we can and then by foot. At the camp there are only two things you are supposed to do, fish and relax. Every day when the VIP group feels that they have fished enough we make our way down to the house where we will pick you up the next morning after agreement.

The 4-6 day:

On the morning day number four we make our way up to Kvænangen river and the salmon fishing is on. In Kvænangen you will get the option of accommodation in lodges just beside to the river because the long way back to the house. Here the group will spend the following three days with good fishing and good meals.

The biggest salmon from Kvænangen River last year was over 42 lbs, but the average size is around 8 lbs. The river does not have zone limits and that gives us the opportunity to choose the best spots available for that specific time.

At the evening day six the VIP group goes back to the house to await the next day's sea fishing.

The 7-9 day:

The VIP group goes deep sea fishing to the open sea.

The next three days will be spent hunting the big ones down in the deep dark blue. Even though the halibut is the main target be prepared to catch big cod, because the world record cod (92lbs) was caught just in these waters. Even wolfish, and coalfish are often hocked and appreciated, not only for their size but also for their delicious taste.

Every evening the boat goes back to the hotel accept the last when it docks in Skjervøy where the group jumps over to a "little" bigger boat, a Hurtigruten ship, that will take you back to Tromsø on a 4,5 hours beautiful fjords cruise.

Practical information:

• Foods for allergic, vegetarians etc. are available if we get notice about it at least one week before the trip.

• You should have warm casual clothing's that are suited for fishing, also warm underwear. Waterproof shoes are also recommended when walking near waters and rivers.

• Sanitary system available at our camp, but nothing fancy with shower etc.

• Remember to book one way ticket to Sørkjosen with Widerøe, if you travel with flight, we pay the return with Hurtigruten.

Transfer times when arriving:

With car from Tromsø airport to Nordreisa one day before the Kingfisher VIP start.

Alternatively from Sørkjosen airport to Reisa valley the same day as the Kingfisher VIP starts.

Kingfisher XL

For the genuine sport fishers we have an extremely extended kingfisher package available. Like its little brother the package is based on three of the most popular types fishing. Our arctic pathfinders will guide you to the best fishing spots, where you can use your own competence to catch the king of the fishes. The kingfisher XL package is for people who have a genuine interest in sport fishing and the wild nature, as we camp at fishing locations.

The kingfisher XL package is based on fresh water lake fishing, deep sea halibut fishing and from 1th of July to 31th of August we include Salmon fishing at Kvænangen river.

The 1-3 day:

After the group is picked up from the airport or city of Storslett we go right out into the wilderness of Reisa mountains. The group will be transported all the way up to the mountain plateau where some 4-wheelers await (if you do not prefer to walk). The group will be guided to a temporary base camp that is located near several good fishing waters and they will all be challenge by you. After a hot meal and some happy bellies the fishing is on. We are fishing for arctic char or brown trout from 1 lb to 10 lbs in size. The next three days only fishing, meals and maybe some sleeping is on the "to do list".

The 4-6 day:

We break the camp early and make our way down the mountains where a car awaits to transport the group to Kvænangen River. Here the group will spend the following three days with good fishing and good meals. We make a quick check-in at the lodges and right after 10 pm when it is allowed to start fishing the group will all have their flies in the water.

At the evening day six the group will be transported to Reisafjord Hotel to get a good night sleep.

(The salmon fishing is available from 1th og July to 31th of august)

The 7-9 day:

Kingfisher group goes deep sea halibut fishing to the open sea.

• Your own guide who will be available 15 hours per day.

• Cruise with Hurtigruten to Tromsø city.

• All transport in Nordreisa area.

• 30 hours boat rental for deep sea fishing.

• Accommodation at Reisafjord hotel.

• All activities, fixed or spontaneous.

Practical information:

• All group members need sleeping bag, even if the base camp is kept warm the whole night it can be cold without sleeping bag.

Kingfisher Sport

The Arctic kingfishers welcome you to a spectacular fishing adventure at one of the last true wilderness on earth. You will have us as pathfinders to the preferred fishing spots and areas, and you will experience the North of Norway for what it really is. The kingfisher sport package is perfect for anyone who loves fishing or would like to explore fishing, and the trip is not physically demanding.

The kingfisher sport package is based on fresh water lake fishing, deep sea halibut fishing and from 1th of July to 31th of August we include Salmon fishing at Kvænangen River.

The first day:

After the group is picked up from the airport or city of Storslett, they will be transported to Reisafjord Hotel where a meal will be served before we start fishing. The kingfisher sport group will be transported to a mountain lake, where the group will stay the whole first day. We are fishing for arctic char or brown trout from 1 lb to 10 lbs in size.

At our base camp beside the lake we serve delicious meals and drinks for the Kingfisher group. At the evening the group is transported to Reisafjord Hotel where they will stay the night.

The second day:

The fishing group will be picked up from the hotel and transported to a spectacular salmon river called Kvænangen River, where we will spend the day with good fishing and good meals.

(The salmon fishing is available from 1th of July to 31th of August)

The third day:

Kingfisher group goes deep sea halibut fishing to the open sea.

Even though the halibut is the main target the group should be prepared to catch big cod, because the world record cod (92lbs) was caught just in these waters. Even wolfish, and coalfish are often hocked and appreciated, not only for their size but also for their delicious taste.

The boat is equipped with all necessary fishing equipments. After the boat fishing you will finish your trip with 4,5 hours cruise with Hurtigruten to Tromsø, so you will also see the beautiful fjords in North of Norway.

Photo Safari

Competent Travels takes photographers with them on a adventure trip that will give opportunity to photograph nature, animal wild life and other elements with high photographic value. Areas that we travel in are in Troms region and we have organized a photo safari with enormous high experience factor both for professional and amateur photographers.

Included in package:

Day 1: The sea and midnight sun

We meet for an information meeting where you get served delicious dinner. After the meeting we start our photo safari at sea level. Our goal is to work with objects at the sea level.

We finish the day with photographing of midnight sun, which is fantastic in Troms region. When the adventure day is over and the work is done, we continue to our camp that is close to the area where second day action starts.

Day 2: Mountain nature

The second day we start to photograph nature and landscape. Our main goal is to catch good mountain pictures and the secondary goal is to meet moose, reindeers and other animals that live in the Troms region.

We finish the day by the sea and there we will continue taking photos the whole night.

Day 3: Animal life

The third day we go to the sea with a boat to photograph eagles and other types of birds. We will be 8 hours on a boat in areas where we can find a lot of eagles and where you also can take good landscape images. We will make dinner on land and eat in the beautiful nature.

The group returns to Tromsø with Hurtigruten. You will get 4,5 hours cruise to Tromsø, where it also is possible to take many good pictures of Norwegian fjords.

We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening supper. All guest can make lunch packet, if they need to eat between servings.

Food for allerics and vegetarians is available if we are informed about it before the trip.
You have to take clothing for mountain hiking, including underwear, gloves and hat.
Waterproof shoes are needed for hiking beside rivers and sea.

Remember to order one way ticket with Widerøe to Sørkjosen, we pay the return with Hurtigruten.
Sleeping bag required.
All participators need photographer equipment, we don’t rent such equipment.

Guest from Reisafjord hotell will be transported 10.30 from the hotel.

Guest coming with Widerøe will be transported 11.00 from Sørkjosen airport.

Grouse hunting

We lead hunter groups to known good hunting terrain where Sami people have been hunting for centuries. Our role is to transport hunting groups to the best terrains, arrange a hunting camp and guide the group in terrain. We also serve all daily meals and drinks. Our guides recommend and guide you to the best areas for hunting every day.

Be sure that you have legal weapon and hunting license for Norway.

We will meet you in Storslett or Sørkjosen and transfer you to our starting point. When we have given you all important information, checked all necessary equipments and dressed then we start our adventure to the hunting camp.

Guests from Reisafjord hotel are transported 10.30 from the hotel.

When coming with flight, transport is available outside Sørkjosen airport 11.00.
